With the patch on the other bug the extra CDROM has gone away.

I disagree. Bug #105545 seems to be a collection of bugs saying that
the modem doesn't work. The modem does actually work for me, and the
CD flash being not hidden is a new thing in hardy. The bug is on

I think bug 105545 has not only details, but also a fix for this, by ignoring
this "drive".
