I use hardy alpha 3 i386, and I have ati radeon x1600 card, the problem
is:
after installing the driver, and the required restart there is no gui,
the graphics card is obviously not initialized properly, and doing
control+alt+1,2,3... all shows a meshed matrix of text fields,
You are not supposed to install the driver manually, instead use the
device manager to "turn on" restricted devices. That in turn configures
your xorg.conf properly.
