After installing linux-image-2.6.24-19-generic, kmix shows the red cross and an
empty list of sound devices. Not kradio.

Installed kernel 2.6.24-19-generic.
No Sound cards found. KRadio shows that red cross in the panel and shows an
empty list of sound devices.
Installed linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-19-generic.
The soundcard is back again, but the issue remains. No matter what frequency

the most recent 2.6.24-19 Hardy kernel? If so, does installing linux-
