I have been unable to reproduce this symptom using vbox Ubuntu VMs for
(default) gutsy-hardy, hardy-intrepid, or intrepid-jaunty. I also am
using ext3 for /home and /tmp. What are the FS types for those
partitions for those of you
I got the same problem after upgrading from Hardy to Intrepid Alpha-6
(currently using beta with latest updates).

I checked the .pulse directory and volume-restore.table file doesn't
exist. I didn't touch it before.. so something made it disappear.

I can't recall in detail, but I never had any problems with the sound on
this machine either with feisty or gutsy; so I would not have changed
anything from the default options of the original package.
