For now I just installed the 0.4.0-1 deb package built for Groovy. There
were no dependency problems and the daemon has started. I'll see how it
goes from here.

I only do packaging for Debian and don't really know how Ubuntu works.
Maybe you should consult Ubuntu guys for backporting.
