Reproducing the problem: I used ubuntu-8.04.1-alternate-amd64.iso hardy 8.04 LTS. Note that the Live CD has a different user interface and the reported issues do not apply. I also tested with Intrepid 8.10. I was able to reproduce some of the claims mentioned above. I found that are 3 steps

Note for developers: Language and Timezone shouldn't be linked. Just because someone choses Spanish does not mean they live in Spain. The installer should allow the two options to be chosen separately. I'm not sure if this has been fixed in Intrepid, so if someone could confirm this issue no

Similar problem here. Using Alternate Edgy 20061710, when selecting laguage from boot (F4) Spanish for the rest of the installation it will asume that live in Spain...but I live in Argentina. Timezones to select will only be the ones correspoding to Spain. This doen't happend if I don't chose
