Works as expected for me in audacious-1.4.6-2ubuntu1. Try clicking the
refresh skin list button (upper right hand corner of appearance section
of preferences, looks like a reload button).

I discovered that, but I never had to do that before. I don't feel that
is very oblivious to a general user.
