I experience no problems whn gtk-qt-engine is uninstalled.
I get different gtk error messages:
With gtk-qt-engine installed:

gtk-qt-engine is installed, yes.
I use a custom theme using clearlooks and the nuevoxt icon set. Changing
the theme back to Human didn't help. Btw, it's not only in the desktop
background tab the app crashes - also when changing theme etc - seems to
happen around 5-10 seconds after it has started
The apport one is weird, do you have gtk-qt-engine installed? What theme
do you use? Could you try changing the theme, does it make a difference?
