Title:
Lenovo T490 extremely show with Ubunt
I'm experiencing the same issue on a Thinkpad T590 (with a i7-8565U CPU
@ 1.80GHz).
With kernels up to 5.8.0-55, the CPU frequency rarely exceeds 1200 MHz,
most of the time it stays at 400 MHz, even in high-load situations. Even
regular web browsing brings the system to its limits, let alone

I just wanted to chime in and say I have the same problem, also with a
T490, although the processor is i7-8565U CPU @ 1.80GHz and I am running
Kubuntu 20.10. Currently running kernel 5.8.0-28.
If there's any way I can help, let me know.

I couldn't find any builds in the 5.10-rc1 folder you linked to, but
instead I tried 5.9.1-050901-generic #202010170731. The performance
seems good and I get frequencies above 3000Mhz, so I think the problem
is fixed here.
I would like to stress that the problem IS NOT fixed in 5.8.16, it's

So far 5.8.14 is known bad version. 5.8.16 is bit better. Could you test
middle point 5.8.15?
Could you also test new upstream version v5.10-rc1?

I tried installing
linux-image-unsigned-5.8.16-050816-generic_5.8.16-050816.202010170731_amd64.deb
This seems to work a little bit better than the Ubuntu kernel, but not
much. I've seen the freqency reaching 1300Mhz (of 4800Mhz). Now it's
running on 500Mhz while trying to load IntelliJ. Current l

Could you test if this regression is fixed in mainline kernel?
