Thank you for reporting this issue about xserver-xorg-video-nv. Starting
with Lucid, Ubuntu is transitioning to using the -nouveau video driver
by default instead of -nv. The reason for this change is because
upstream development for the -nv driver has been quite slow. We are

Have re-installed Intrepid Studio with daily build. NV driver still does not
work.
Have to manually edit xorg.conf and change driver name to vesa.

Could you try a daily livecd which has a newer driver? Seems that it's
trying to drive some other output than the one you are using, and the
new driver should fix some issues with it.

Sounds strange that the livecd would work but the installed system not.
Anyway, please attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /etc/X11/xorg.conf
and we'll investigate it further.
