The problem is not the missing *.ini file.
If ProjectX could start it will create it.
There seems to be a problem with Java (IcedTea 64-Bit Server VM).

Projectx also crashes on my amd64 gutsy box - I backported it from
Hardy.
After removing all java vms found on my system (there were about 5 of
them for reasons I can only imagine) and installing icedtea-java7-jre
from gutsy, I got the following message:
