Public bug reported: Getmail has a "delete_after" option, as does MUAs like Claws Mail. Why not fetchmail?
It would be a useful feature to have. Perhaps the most common use case is this: someone has both a desktop and mobile phone MUA, which confines them to IMAP if they don't want the complexity of having to run their own IMAP server. But this means email sits on the server potentially indefinitely, which is terrible in terms of security. Ideally a good compromise is for the desktop to POP3 download msgs and delete them 90 days later. The mobile device would then use IMAP to access just the past 90 days of messages. Te some extent this would give the privacy benefit of providers like Microsoft and Google not having years of email to snoop through at any time. It's also essential when you have a small provider like Danwin with a small storage limit. ** Affects: fetchmail (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1924618 Title: add a "delete after" option To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fetchmail/+bug/1924618/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
