Getmail has a "delete_after" option, as does MUAs like Claws Mail.  Why
not fetchmail?

It would be a useful feature to have.  Perhaps the most common use case
is this: someone has both a desktop and mobile phone MUA, which confines
them to IMAP if they don't want the complexity of having to run their
own IMAP server.  But this means email sits on the server potentially
indefinitely, which is terrible in terms of security.  Ideally a good
compromise is for the desktop to POP3 download msgs and delete them 90
days later.  The mobile device would then use IMAP to access just the
past 90 days of messages.

Te some extent this would give the privacy benefit of providers like
Microsoft and Google not having years of email to snoop through at any
time.  It's also essential when you have a small provider like Danwin
with a small storage limit.
