Whats the best way for me to try 4.1beta2 on Ubuntu? I installed the
version from kubuntu-members-kde4's PPA, but its version
4:4.0.83-0ubuntu1~hardy3

I updated kate-kde4 to 4:4.0.3-0ubuntu3~gutsy1~ppa1 yesterday and I'm
still getting the same problem. It still wraps the quotes around the
file name and places my cursor after the last quote.

How many times did you try that? I use Kate all day for programming so I
open dozens of files a day. I don't know what other info I could
provide, it just happens all day.

I can't reproduce this issue in KDE, actually the quotation marks appear when
selecting a file, but after I close the dialog (either by opening that file,
selecting cancel, press Esc or click the window close button) and press Ctrl+O
again, I have the current filename filled in.

Nothing has changed between these two screenshots, I went to open a file
and got the quotes, then closed the dialog and pressed Ctrl+O again and
got the second screenshot where the filename is selected.
