Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue
for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

With the bzip errors, try running sudo apt-get update and then sudo apt-
get upgrade. Hopefully it will go away.
If it doesn't once you get into gutsy and *still* have a bzip error with
gutsy security then you cna try commenting out the gutsy security entry
in /etc/apt/sources.list, running sudo a
As another thought, you might also consider contacting the people who
run the other repositories to see if they have any know problems with
their servers.

I'm not sure about this one. You could try removing all the repositories
that are not from ubuntu.com from your sources list. See here if you
need guidance https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu.
Basically we need to break the problem down a bit so lets start with
that

Richard,
I have tried several times since February 2008 to update and have
received the exact same error message. Is there a way for me to update?
Thank you for your time.

Diego,
Thanks for the information. As noted above this type of error is often a
problem at the server end and tends to disappear once the server is
fixed. The best bet is probably to retry later today or tomorrow. Just
to be sure you could post the actual text of the error message if you
can regen
I had the same problem when tried to upgrade from Kubuntu gutsy to hardy
with adept manager in 27/03/08. The problem was with official securitty
repos.

Evelyn,
Is this still a problem for you? Based on the error message this looks
like a problem with the repository server rather than a bug in update
manager. These types of problem tend to disappear once the server is
fixed. If that is the case we can close this report.
