I can confirm that right after a system update I am no longer able to
view the login screen or access the desktop. It's stuck at a black
screen with a blinking cursor.

I can confirm this problem, just updated the system and Xorg session
wasn't starting, I was able to install the latest drivers using another
tty and enabling the graphics drivers ppa, but, yes, I restarted the
computer and saw just a black screen.

This is terrible. A simple system update left me with a black screen and
I've spent several hours trying to find what's wrong. Purging all
nvidia-related packages worked as a temporary walkaround. Please fix :(

common-470 it seems that the 470.63.01 is only in the proposed
repository, while the other changes landed in the update/security
