Session preference not
Would it as such be preferred to open a new bug on this issue? The PPA
was removed from the system yet the issue persists. Another system log
from the system by default is attached.

Thanks. It appears Ubuntu on X11 is trying to start (3 times) and
failing, which is why it chooses Wayland instead.
You appear to be using the 'oibaf' PPA which is not supported and is
known to cause bugs like this. Please uninstall it using 'ppa-purge',
reboot, and then open new bugs about any
/etc/gdm3/custom.conf is enclosed

Thank you for your comments. The system log is included.
The user is logged in. I have verified that Xorg was already selected on
the login prompt, though I did not perform the explicit re-selecting
that is required to actually register the preference.
