Public bug reported: In 18.04 opening a directory with O(40,000) files took a minute or two. With 20.04.3 it takes 7 minutes and counting.
Apparently, the algorithm has been changed to one which does not scale. Since Caja knows the size of the directory, it can estimate the number of files and can choose an appropriate algorithm. If I cannot even open the directory, Ubuntu 20.04.3 becomes useless.
