ok .. upgraded to hardy and the problem persists.
Happens also if one tries to open a file that contain whitespace in it's name.
Can noone verify this?

here we go:
.) create a folder with withespace on the desktop for example test test
.) put a video file in that folder
.) right click the file and choose open with mplayer
i'll get the error: failed to open file ...
