I can confirm this bug in Ubuntu 11.04 too.
I have tried the package from Giuseppe Iuculano and I think that the
sound is better when racing (maybe correct), however, it still sounds
very weird in the main menu and even more in the Audio menu.

Deleting debian/patches/CVE-2007-6720.patch and rebuilding libmikmod2
makes the problem go away, but obviously that's not what we want.
