Jonathan, that's demonstrably not true using Kubuntu 8.10. The increments are not even consistent in spacing, and change depending on whether you are turning the volume down or up: 100, 95, 90, 86, 81, 76, 72, 67, 62, 58, 53, 48, 44, 39, 34, 30, 25, 20, 16, 11, 6, 2, 0. 0, 4, 9, 13, 18, 23, 27,
