The bug is in the /opt/ltsp/i386/usr/lib/ltsp/configure-x.sh. Try this
patch, it works properly for me.

sadly that only fixes the one line ... there are about 50 occurences
where backslash escapes are used ...
apparently dash dropped support for unquoted escapes ... since we're in beta
freeze now the script will just be using /bin/bash to work around that
