using dpkg -D -i /var/cache/apt/archives/libgl1-mesa- glx_7.0.3~rc2-1ubuntu1_i386.deb allowed me to see that it was trying to use a diversion to /usr/lib/nvidia/libGL.so.xlibmesa which didn't exist. Creating this file (and directories) allowed the package installation to go through. I use

I don't understand the language but the bug is the same. My scenario was: 1. having a 100% working gutsy with the display driver replaced to a self-compiled radeonhd 2. upgrade to hardy 3. upgrade of libgl1-mesa-glx package fails constantly with error creating symbolic link
