I hope this isn't inappropriate, but I believe that not having unrar
installed by default is a bug.

zip/tar is supported by default, why not rar (unrar)? It's small and
there is a open source version, right? Many files use rar, and it's a
pain to have to manually enable rar support for users new to linux.
Could there at least be a prompt to download rar support when presented
with a rar archive?

This is a feature request, hope that's alright on launchpad.
