Actually, I just did a chroot from gutsy and made an "apt-get update; apt-get
dist-upgrade" which showed, that I am already up-to-date = hardy final!
So the problem does concern the latest kernel in the final release.
I did not have any problems before the last upgrade!

I forgot the kernel version - I cannot boot up with 2.6.24-12-386 and
2.6.24.12-generic. With the kernel 2.6.24-11-generic the booting process
hangs with the mesaage "starting syslog daemon" or something similar.

Thanks for testing and the update. I'm glad to hear this is no longer
an issue. I'm going to go ahead and mark this bug report as "Fix
Released". For future reference you can manage the status of your own
