Sorry, I sure don't know. I am not even sure what caused it with mine.
I think it was the bluetooth, but not sure.

Greg: Yes, I do. It is the official 8.04. I used it to boot and run
"Live" from an HP Laptop, as well as a Dell Dimension 4500 desktop. In
fact I am writing this note from the Live run on the Dell. Still no dice
on the Acer. Would appreciate any suggestions (short of go get a real
machine :-) ).

Do you have a new ISO? Mine worked after the official release build. I
only had the problem during the beta versions. Ubuntu is still useless
to me yet however as Hibernation is a requirement for me as I do most of
my work off line and I load web pages for later viewing and other such
things
Ibex, too:
I have an Acer Desktop that has the same issue. The machine has no
Bluetooth, but hangs at "Starting Bluetooth" when "running" or
"installing" from the Desktop CD, using 8.04. I also just tried 7.04 and
Ibex Alpha 4, with identical results. I cannot get to a command line:

Marking as Confirmed. Yes, it's possible that a newer kernel will have
the support that you need. New hardware is a moving target for Linux.
Sometimes patience is needed to find the right distro for your machine.

problem is with the older kernel used by Ubuntu.
The new release of Ubuntu in April may fix the problem.

Thanks for your bug submission. One thing to try: Go into BIOS and
turn off bluetooth. Then try the Live CD. Also, hit F1 once the Ubuntu
graphical logo comes up. Watch the text scroll by and post those
bluetooth messages.
