while hanged pressto display the root login ( your machine name login actually) login with your administrator account sudo vi /etc/default/bluetooth switch the variable BLUETOOTH_ENABLED from 1 to 0 (zero) save the file reboot the only way for me to solve the problem I hope this help

Greg: Yes, I do. It is the official 8.04. I used it to boot and run "Live" from an HP Laptop, as well as a Dell Dimension 4500 desktop. In fact I am writing this note from the Live run on the Dell. Still no dice on the Acer. Would appreciate any suggestions (short of go get a real machine :-) ). -

Do you have a new ISO? Mine worked after the official release build. I only had the problem during the beta versions. Ubuntu is still useless to me yet however as Hibernation is a requirement for me as I do most of my work off line and I load web pages for later viewing and other such things
