I have tested the kernel 2.6.27 with the live cd on my IBM Thinkpad
T41 laptop and it resolves the issue.

Well, only the problem with wifi and wpa2 remains...depends on cisco

I have the same problem with my Thinkpad T41.. I had to revert back to 7.10.
