No, I didn't hit 'Unlock' and when I do it works.
I'll mark this bug invalid, but arguably this could be expressed a
little better. 'Unlock what?' Capabilities? The highlighted user? But
frankly the reason why I think I missed the 'Unlock' button is that it's
placed where the 'Cancel' button often
This might be a silly question, but did you try clicking the "Unlock"
button, as seen in your screenshot? Since the addition of policykit in
this version of Ubuntu, this dialog box is not supposed to prompt for
your password when it opens - it essential opens for you as if you were
a non-administr
I just downloaded, installed, and updated Hardy Alpha 6, and I
experience the same problem.

This bug also doesn't seem *obviously* related to not setting watch on
files for config changes. It's about not letting the user enter any
changes in the first place, rather than not recording them properly when
it's done.
