I have exactly the same issue (card 34).
Is there some documentation how to get the event interface working for a card
like this?
So far nothing worked, but it seems like it should.

lirc_gpio is broken on all 2.6.24 kernels. Until it's fixed upstream,
we're not going to see a fix.
