this also happend to me on a software raid5 system. (installed using the
alternative install CD)
I guess this failed because it tried to use lilo, instead of grub.
(I'm using grub, and uninstaled lilo so that it doesn't interfere with my grub
setup).
this failed with 2.6.24-23 .. not with *-11
