I've not had the error in .xsession-errors again (so may be random), but
I can reproduce in Firefox too. In both cases I can right click on the
image and it will load in another window just fine.

I'm also getting this on epiphany. I have this in ~/.xsession-errors
which may be connected:
"Error showing url: There was an error launching the default action
command associated with this location."

Based on supplied information I am confirming.
However, just to make sure we have this bug against the correct package,
please keep a look out to make sure the problem does not exhibit itself
in any other programs. In fact, please install the epiphany web browser
(sudo apt-get install epiphany-br

Even after zooming in on the webpage (View -> Zoom -> Zoom In) a couple
of times and reloading I am unable to reproduce this issue (with the
suppled examples).
I'm not saying it isn't a bug, just saying I can't reproduce.
