I wasn't aware of that very useful feature.
In a Windows application I use, you minimize it to icon, by press Ctrl
and minimize.

Indeed, it would be a specific behaviour.
However, it would make sense. A audio player is something that you
always have running, but rarely interacts with. It justs sits in the
background, playing music, doing its purpose in the background. So you
want it out of the way.

This does not break consistency, as it does not change standard
behavior, it just adds additional behavior.
Click on minimize = Minimize to taskbar <-- this has always been the case, this
is standard behavior
But I propose if you do that, while hold down Ctrl, it minimize to systray/icon
instead
Thank you for your bug report. Those actions are standard and there is
no reason to start trying to break consistency by doing random hacks in
some softwares
