I think a little video with this strange behavior is welcome.
When I type something like no-ip.info:4111 - the status description is not
changed.

Thank you for these details, Florin. However, I cannot reproduce this
bug. Whatever I type into the status field is reflected as my status.
(I'm using the same architecture/Ubuntu version/pidgin version.)

Sorry about that...
In pidgin, when I change status to available (for example) there is also a text
box where I am invited to customize my status with a specific message.
In almost cases the text that I insert appear as a description of me.
But if I try to enter a text like 765765765.no-ip.info:41
