Nvidia 440se wont display the correct mode, the highest i can get is 800x600.
The previous ubuntu worked great. Now i cant use desktop effects, emmerald or
compiz.
Not life threatening but very annoying.

Just to add to this discussion, I've been frustrated by the nvidia
restricted driver but Gutsy may have given me a cheap way around this
problem. I leave the nvidia restricted driver UNTOUCHED, left alone, and
I go with the generic one; then I go to the Screens and Graphics dialog
and choose a
I'm having big problems with my desktop freezing up unless I switch to
the nv driver. After reading this report I checked to see which
nvidia I have installed, and sure enough, the Gutsy Restricted
Drivers Manager installed nvidia-glx instead of nvidia-glx-legacy.
I'm going to try to switch them
