Actually, in the newly created account things look allright, so this
must be something in my /home directory that's messing things up. I
think this bug may be treated as invalid thus.

Yes, still the issue for me. I've upgraded from 7.10 and got Firefox 3
installed automagically into where it is now, not in "Internet" menu.

I have just tried to remove Firefox altogether to install it back again.
After removal, the "firefox" item in menu persisted, and I had to remove
it manually. After reinstalling firefox by "sudo aptitude install
firefox-gnome-support" there's no Firefox menu entry at all.
