The file /var/log/apt/term.log can only be read by the root user
The following command on a terminal writes the file term.log in your home
directory with read permission as normal user:
sudo cat /var/log/apt/term.log ~/term.log

Did this happen during a distribution upgrade from Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy)
to Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy) or on a normal upgrade? In the case of a normal
upgrade please check /var/log/apt/term.log files for errors.

I went to System/Administration/System Log/var/log/apt/term.org and got the
following message: One file or more could not be opened. Also Not log
files.
The problem happened during a normal upgrade.

I looked but could not find the log file you requested. I am not an expert
