I just built the current Debian package on current Ubuntu Hardy and
confirm that the package builds, installs, and works correctly. I
created a test DB and exercised some PostGIS specific table
creation/data insertion/querying.

won't get one, if you won't leave the bug as new, as then no other
member of motu-release will look at this one).

Unconfirming wasn't accidental. Confirmed means approved by motu-release.
Please put it back.

Hey Scott, looks like you accidentally un-confirmed the bug.
Anyway, it doesn't sound like this is going to happen because hardy is
in "FinalFreeze" status. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FinalFreeze
Could someone on the MOTU team please confirm this?

After investigating my issue a bit further I found that the problem was
because I reprojected my original source data from 27200 to 4326 using
PostGIS and stored it in a column in my db. When I tried to simplify the

I've installed the packages that Eric mentioned and they seem to work
well although I'm having trouble with the ST_Simplify function - when I
try to use it, its returning my geom's as an empty object (No errors):

postgis is in universe, so this freeze exception request needs to go
through motu-release rather than ubuntu-release. Passing it over to
them.

Hello everybody,
I just installed the package provide by Eric, imported spatial_ref_sys.sql and
lwpostgis.sql and imported via QGIS (SPIT) three Shape-Files into the database,
it all worked flawlessly!
Further testing will follow :-)
A big thanks to Eric for that,
best wishes from Austria,

Hi everybody,
Let's get this feature freeze exception in.
The PPA was able to successfully build the package, so here's the build
log:

If somebody would file a Feature Freeze exception (see
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FreezeExceptionProcess) we can maybe get this
in. We want to pull in 1.3.2-2 from Debian. I think we should shoot for
it.

I would like to third this. If this package doesn't make it into Hardy
we're going to have to run PostgreSQL 8.2 for quite some time.

Bugs,
I would like to second this wish... PostgreSQL 8.3 has some very good
new features but I can't really make use of them, because I need also
the PostGIS-Package. To compile by myself would be possible, but is I
think only a sub-optimal solution...the package would be better,
specially in regard to L
Since hardy is a LTS release, it would be very nice if this could slip
in.
