how is the option to go in the other direction revelent? The other
options about don't concern the range. But you are right, the choice can
be confusing, though replace all does what the label describes, there is
not restriction about the direction or the selection there

the option is about the search not, the remplace, you are using replace
all which is doing its work, not sure that's a bug, to report upstream
by somebody with interest to discuss this detail, that's not something
the ubuntu team is interested to change
