Running the sdlclient with civclient -d 3 -P sdl -S stdsounds I still get the sound option menu greyed out. I get errors referring to the lack of sounds for events such as: No sound file for tag e_game_quit (file -) 3: Neither of tags e_game_quit or (null) found But there are no errors

After actually starting a game, I found out that sound does work when moving units. I still wonder why the sound menu is grayed out, but there does not actually seem to be a general sound system problem in my case. (Maybe only some sound events are working as your error messages indicate.) It can
