how do you unmount the device? what device are you using? I've tried using an ipod on hardy and it works correctly ** Changed in: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- rhythmbox holds on to removable drives https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/205976 You received this bug

I unmount by just right-click on the icon, either on the desktop or in a file browser and 'unmount'. It's just a plain old external USB harddrive. I have a chunk of my rhythmbox library on it though, so there is a lot of music only visible when the HDD is turned on and mounted. -- rhythmbox

not a bug, rhythmbox is using the file that's why you can't eject it, you should use rhythmbox to eject the device rather ** Changed in: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- rhythmbox holds on to removable drives https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/205976 You received this bug

In gutsy it worked. Rhythmbox would release the file. In hardy, it doesn't. You can't eject the device from within rhythmbox because there is nowhere to do so. It's not an mp3 player, so doesn't show up in the list of devices. Basically, if you don't know that rb is locking the file, you can';t
