Hello again. I also use the deadsnakes ppa described by Miroslav and the following two packages from that repo were involved in this error: python3.12 and libpython3.12-stdlib. I was able to remove them as follows: sudo apt-get remove python3.12 sudo apt-get remove libpython3.12-stdlib

I’ve got the same problem on Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS. However, Ubuntu repositories do not contain Python 3.12 for 22.04 as well as 20.04, see https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=python3.12&searchon=names&suite=all§ion=all. Therefore I guess this could be caused by https://launchpad.net/~deadsna

I was able to resolve this by forcing overwrite when installing the two packages (note the order does matter). Given the destructive possibility of this command, I took a backup of the VM prior to proceeding. $ sudo dpkg -i --force-overwrite /var/cache/apt/archives/libpython3.12-stdlib_3.12.
