You sure this is a duplicate of bug 147623? That bug has to do with
usplash; from the description of this bug he has already passed usplash
in the boot process when this issue occurs.

I'm unmarking this bug as a duplicate of bug 147623. For a couple of
reasons, the reporter indicates he saw wallpaper of ubuntu which is
not something you'd see if this was bug 147623. Additionally, he
indicates the caps lock key is blinking which is indicative of a kernel
crash.
