With Ubuntu 8.10, gshare-manager does not crash anymore, but I'm still
unable to acces my share, still says unable to mount. Bad response.

I have exactly the same problem, with every kernel and on an 64 bits
architecture.
I can see my share in the network place, but when I want to open it, it
says unable to mount. Bad response (my translation...)
