I have the same problem. I use Ubuntu 8.04 with aMSN 0.97 (installed
from package rep). I also have the option Flicket chat window title
when new message is received on unfocused window enable in the SESSION

Maybe a stupid question but have you checked that the flashes is activated? I
don't now if it's activatied by default. It sure should but I don't now.
It's located in Settings-Session (I'm not sure if I've typed it right. I don't
have the english version.)
