Why is this low importance? It's extremely annoying as I can no longer
use Amarok, which I've used to listen to music for years now.

The Pulse Audio option is till not available for Amarok, however the
auto detect option is now working for me but only because its using
alsa.

Nope, not for me at least. Hardy 32-bit, latest updates as of Monday
April 7th. Amarok still doesn't show the option "pulseaudio" under
output plugins. I only get the options alsa, oss and file.
