Thanks for your help. Yes, I was suffering from bug 183968 ('wlan_rename').
After following the two steps noted for that bug, it's now been resolved.

For what it's worth, this is happening to me too. Dell D830, intel 3945
wireless card, latest hardy builds. It works fine after a reboot but
after a suspend/resume, it's gone. This was working fine in earlier
Hardy builds as well as Gutsy. Thanks.

This may be bug 183968.
Check the output of the command ifconfig. If one of the entries in
that output is named wlan0_rename or similar, it's almost certainly that
bug and you can use the workaround listed at bug 183968. Please tell us
what happened either way.

That was it (in my case, of course, unsure about the original
submitter's). ifconfig was showing the interface as wlan0_rename
(before the suspend; after waking up ifconfig didn't show
wlananything). Anyway, I implemented the workaround describe in
183968 and sure enough it fixed the problem.
joss, are you able to tell us what the output of ifconfig in a
terminal is?
