yes, it's the same behavior we're seeing on Bug #108951. Pops out first
bit, slight delay (2 sec or so) and then the full tray slides out. Click
again and it just disappears.

Bug #108951 doesn't seem like the same problem I'm having. This is what
it is doing for me (real-time) http://tewan.info/drawerdelay.ogv

Is this really a dupe of https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-

anything to do with this. Pardon my ignorance if I'm mistaken.

Trying to get around the delay, I went in to gconf-editor and turned off
animations. The panel started appearing in the upper left corner,
despite the drawer icon being in the lower right corner. When I re-
checked "enable animations", the panel stopped appearing all together.

This bug has been around for a long time - at least since Feisty.
Happens to me on Compiz, non-Compiz, standalone and LTSP cilent

Happens on i386, X86_64, multiple different machines with Intel/AMD,
nVidia, Sony Vaio laptop, Fedora 8, Fedora 9. Only thing I see in common is

Yes, please disable animation. It persists on a fully upgraded hardy

I can confirm that the problem exists, in both 7.10 and 8.04. I did not
test with Compiz switched off. It is pretty pretty annoying I must say.
Does anybody know a workaround (maybe a setting in advanced compiz
preferences) ?

I can confirm the issue still exists with a fully up to date hardy. If
you disable compiz, there is no wierdness, but with compiz on, the
wierdness I originally reported happens.
