For me, totem-mozilla does *NOT* work. The only plugin that really works
is gecko-mediaplayer. However, it uses gnome-mplayer which always
increases PCM volume to 100% at start (it'll make me deaf one day...).
Newer version of gnome-mplayer (0.9 instead of 0.6, takef from getdeb)
has an option to s
I suggest you to remove this crappy plugin and install totem-mozilla
which is the only plugin which I have found will work perfectly with
firefox. I don't understand why they keey things which won't work.

This bug is also in Intrepid stable up-to-date. This is Ubuntu, running gnome.
Nothing happens when clicking multimedia links (tried with .mp3:s), vlc plugin
does not respond. Firefox doesn't crash though.

I am now using kubuntu intrepid beta. I have this same problem. vlc plugin is
not playing any sound. Is it like that this plugin wont work in kde.
Can any one confirm if this is a kde specific issue?

Now everything is working like a charm. Now i dont think i will ever go
back to mozilla-vlc. i had issues with mozilla-mplayer also

Hopefuly the bug will be fixed in release 0.90.
To get around the problem you need to remove mozilla-plugin-vlc and make sure
you have totem-mozilla installed.

It is not quicktime it is a wave file.
Also at http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Wiktionary:Main_Page there is a
content called word of the day. Its pronunciation is given as an ogg
file. It is also not working. No sound although no crash there.

Ok, so that is a quicktime clip.
Quicktime isn't supported that well by Linux.

Flash is working correctly for me. Problem is when i play multimedia
files. For example if i search temple on answers.com there is a link to
its pronunciation http://www.answers.com/temple - a symbol with volume
icon. That is not working. And the problem i mentioned before occurs.

It is not working. All updates are installed. I didnt notice a firefox one.
If i click at link at answers.com 3 times firefox crashes. I tried several
times. At 3rd click firefox crashes. And there is no sound

All updates are installed through update-manager (System -> Administration ->
Update Manager).
Make sure you have all updates installed.
If it still does not work then remove mozilla-plugin-vlc and then install it
back again (do not choose re-install).
If you are trying to watch clips on youtube
I am using firefox beta 5. Is there any other updates? I use firefox
from hardy repository.

I can confirm this bug.
Using Ubuntu Hardy 64bit with 2.6.24-15-generic kernel and Firefox 3 beta 5.
I am unable to stream video using mozilla-plugin-vlc. I only get a
white(gray) triangle in the window, but no picture and no sound.
