As far as I can tell from a quick test, this seems to work. I think.
The resulting desktop is--sparse, with only an open terminal, no
xubuntu-desktop or anything. Not what I expected or hoped for, but
perhaps WAD?
$ aptitude download tightvncserver
$ sudo dpkg -i --force-depends tightvncserver_1
