Wrong keyboard
I'm not using Ubuntu right now. It really was a strange problem and I
didn't get to discover what was causing it.
I do remember, however, that a new install didn't have the problem. It
was somehow caused by doing the upgrade.
I'me planning to try the latest version sometime soon.

Wrong keyboard layout after LTS upgrade
Confirm. Same behaviour with Ubuntu LTS 8.04. Keyboard starts with US-
Layout after Reboot. One has to change manually to de_DE.
Maybe putting setxkbmap -model pc105 -layout de -variant basic into
rc.local could be a workaround, bit I didn't test it yet.

I don't think it is fixed.
Since the LTS upgrade gnome lost the ability to store the correct keyboard
settings although they look ok in the Keyboard Preferences window.
Everytime I log in I have to go to keyboard preferences and click on Keyboard
model, change the model from Generic 105-key to

I think it was duplicate of bug #213973. Is bug #213986 duplicate of bug
#213973 also or is it separate bug?
