Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.22

This is a recent regression - this Plantronics USB headset device worked
for me on April 3, so some update to Hardy between then and now has
introduced the problem. I've seen bug 88746 and attempted the solution
of rmmod ehci_hcd, but that makes the headset unusable (no initial
Ubuntu sound and it doesn't respond to pressing the mute button).

Attempts to use a Plantronics USB headset fail, with dmesg reporting the
following errors:
[ 194.049642] usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2
