Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.22
This is a recent regression - this Plantronics USB headset device worked for me on April 3, so some update to Hardy between then and now has introduced the problem. I've seen bug 88746 and attempted the solution of rmmod ehci_hcd, but that makes the headset unusable (no initial Ubuntu sound and it doesn't respond to pressing the mute button). Attempts to use a Plantronics USB headset fail, with dmesg reporting the following errors: [ 194.049642] usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2 [ 194.113562] usb 2-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice [ 83.474601] usbcore: registered new interface driver snd-usb-audio [ 83.474696] usbcore: registered new interface driver hiddev [ 83.498892] input: Plantronics Plantronics Headset as /devices/pci0000:00/000 0:00:1d.1/usb2/2-2/2-2:1.3/input/input11 [ 83.528619] input,hidraw0: USB HID v1.00 Device [Plantronics Plantronics Head set] on usb-0000:00:1d.1-2 [ 83.528638] usbcore: registered new interface driver usbhid [ 83.528642] /build/buildd/linux-2.6.24/drivers/hid/usbhid/hid-core.c: v2.6:US B HID core driver [ 198.665064] uhci_hcd 0000:00:1d.1: host controller process error, something b ad happened!
